Wedding Veil Making

Wedding Veil Making

A wedding veil can be the finishing touch your bridal attire. They can be a costly addition with an array of lengths and edgings to choose from but can actually be relatively simple to make.

This one day course will set you on your design path to create a beautiful bespoke veil to compliment your bridal gown.

You will learn a variety of finishes and complete samples, including using satin-edging, lace appliqué, and more contemporary finishes using ‘crin’ (horsehair braid). You will then be shown methods of attaching a veil onto a comb.

We will also look at vintage-inspired ‘birdcage’ veiling and learn how to cover a headband and attach a veil.

At the end of the day you will have your samples to take away as reference and the knowledge to be able to create your veil to your exact specifications that will complete your wedding ensemble.

Although there is some hand-sewing involved you will need to be able to use a sewing machine - we will be using basic straight-stitch & zig-zag settings. Please bring your machine that you are familiar with or we can provide one to sew with if needed. Although all techniques are simple they can be a little fiddly!

All materials will be provided for the day and advice given on where to purchase them on your return home so you can make your veil.
